“safe and efficient use of P2P services” by clients and ISPs, as well as enhance P2P efficiency, DCIA CEO Mark Lafferty said. A DCIA working group will form by June, aiming to get the job done “well before the end of the year,” DCIA said. The group, comprising ISPs and P2P companies, has a less technical focus than DCIA’s P4P Working Group, it said. Participation is voluntary and open to nonmembers, it said. DCIA will present the group’s purpose statement and recruit members at Monday’s Los Angeles P2P Media Summit. The group’s “formative meeting” will occur in New York during the May 19-21 Streaming Media East Conference. Comcast, AT&T and Verizon support the effort and plan to take part, company representatives told us.
