The Computer & Communications Industry Association applauded the deal. “The priority now is to turn this framework into real-world results,” said Daniel Friedlaender, senior vice president in its Europe office.

“CCIA is encouraged by the commitment” from the U.S. and the EU “to strengthen their economic partnership and address longstanding trade issues,” said a statement from the group. “The focus on eliminating non-tariff barriers is a positive step that will benefit the technology sector and consumers on both sides of the Atlantic.”

The agreement “will open the EU market to U.S. tech exports and provide American companies with the certainty they need to lead in the global economy,” emailed Gary Shapiro, CEO of the Consumer Technology Association. “We congratulate the administration and the European Commission for reaching this deal and encourage continued cooperation, especially on addressing digital trade barriers in the EU market and further reducing tariffs of importance to technology value chains."
