Senate Confirms Former RNC Counsel as National Cyber Director
The Senate on Saturday confirmed the Republican National Committee’s former chief counsel as national cyber director.

Sean Cairncross, who hasn't held cyber positions previously, was confirmed on a 59-35 vote. He worked at the RNC for more than 20 years, starting in 2004.
“The United States must dominate the cyber domain through strong collaboration across departments and agencies, as well as private industry. Under President [Donald] Trump’s leadership, we will enter a new era of effective cybersecurity policy,” he said in a statement.
