ACAM Broadband Coalition Updates Carr Aide on Support Model
Members of the ACAM Broadband Coalition spoke with an aide to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr about the work toward developing the enhanced-alternative connect America cost model (E-ACAM), said a filing posted Friday in docket 10-90. “Achieving final support levels in the E-ACAM adjustment process that are as accurate and sufficient as possible requires two main elements,” the coalition said: “use of location, service availability, and enforceable commitment data that is as accurate and complete as possible” and “use of a support recalculation process that incorporates, to the extent possible, the true cost of serving E-ACAM company locations.”

The coalition noted the FCC’s “ongoing work to develop correct and complete location, service availability and enforceable commitment data and shared that we are working with staff to support their work to correct the updated locations file released in late June where there are errors or omissions.” Development of a more formal process for correcting inaccuracies and omissions “would be very helpful.”
The group also warned against using outdated data. “Using cost estimates derived using outdated Fabric V.2 data for the locations in Fabric V.4 will lead to inaccurate and insufficient support for E-ACAM companies for the same reason why using outdated cost estimates from the model to produce offer support levels would have resulted in inaccurate and insufficient initial offers.”
