5G Automotive Association Talks C-V2X Concerns With Trusty Aide

Representatives of the 5G Automotive Association met with an aide to FCC Commissioner Olivia Trusty on the group’s concerns about interference caused by out-of-band emissions (OOBE) from very-low-power and potential new geofenced variable-power devices in the 6 GHz band to cellular-vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) operations in the 5.9 GHz band.

“Test results show current OOBE limits leave C-V2X vulnerable to interference that can substantially diminish the range of C-V2X operation and shorten the time for drivers and autonomous vehicles to react to safety notifications,” said a filing Wednesday in docket 18-295. The group urged the commission “to use its next order in the 6 GHz docket to put more protective, but still workable, OOBE limits into place.”
