From September 2022 to October 2023, Pogosyan transshipped the equipment components in third-party countries to hide the fact that the parts were headed to Russia. The business owner conspired with "Russian-based companies and individuals" to ship the goods through Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Latvia and Lithuania, DOJ said.

Pogosyan faces a maximum five-year prison sentence for conspiring to defraud the U.S. and a maximum 10-year prison sentence for each of his three smuggling charges. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 7. Though he was born in Russia, Pogosyan is a U.S. citizen lawfully residing in Wisconsin.
