“NextNav explained that its 5G-based PNT solution, ‘NextGen,’ can be deployed rapidly through several concurrent steps, and standardized through the well-established [3rd Generation Partnership Project] process for specifying new 5G bands,” said the filing on the meeting with commission staff. NextNav also discussed “how its 5G-based PNT solution will be implemented by leveraging existing 5G infrastructure; detailed specific Positioning Reference Signals (PRS) features broadening PRS coverage without imposing additional network constraints and how its PRS will require minimal network overhead (allowing more network resources to transmit user data); and emphasized how a 10 megahertz downlink channel will significantly enhance PNT accuracy.”
