US Signs Content Deal Bringing One America News to VOA
Voice of America will start carrying One America News Network content, wrote Kari Lake, a U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) senior adviser, on X Tuesday night. Lake said a One America feed will provide free content for VOA and other USAGM networks, including the Office of Cuba Broadcasting and its Radio Marti. The idea came from the Cuban broadcaster, she said. Her role doesn't give her editorial control over programming, she said, but she "can ensure our outlets have reliable and credible options as they work to craft their reporting and news programs." The One America feed accomplishes that while also saving taxpayers' money, she said.

Use of content from the conservative network was met with criticism by some in the journalism world. "Under the guise of saving taxpayer money, Kari Lake is using free content from the conspiracy-laden, oft-sued OAN network to substitute for actual journalism from VOA reporters," Columbia University journalism professor Bill Grueskin wrote Wednesday on Bluesky.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit last week stayed a preliminary injunction ordering Lake to stop dismantling USAGM and to restart VOA broadcasts (see 2504220069). The appellate court said the government is likely to prevail on an appeal because the lower court lacked jurisdiction to enjoin USAGM's personnel actions. But the government didn't seek to stay the part of the injunction in which the district court ordered USAGM to resume VOA's statutorily required programming levels, the D.C. Circuit said (docket 25-5151).
