Beer under subheading 2203.00.00 had been added to the list of additional aluminum derivatives subject to Section 232 tariffs effective April 4 (see 2504020015), alongside aluminum cans under subheading 7612.90.10.
But despite the inclusion of a superior eight-digit subheading, CBP said the 10-digit subheading for beer in glass bottles isn’t covered, providing little additional detail.
“Is HTS 2203.00.0030, Beer made from malt, In containers each holding not over 4 liters, In glass containers; subject to Section 232 duties?”
“No,” CBP said.
