The tweet by Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., and Sen. Jeffrey Merkley, D-Ore., seeks “assurances” that investments by Microsoft and Google are “not abetting human rights abuses in China.” Microsoft and Google had no immediate comment on the tweet.
