More Than 70 House Members Advocate for Delay in EU Deforestation Reg
More than 70 members of the House of Representative are asking the administration to ask the European Union to delay its deforestation reporting requirements, which they say would be impossible to meet for wood chips and fluff pulp, used in menstrual pads and diapers.

The bipartisan request was publicized by Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine, this week.
The members of Congress say wood products exporters still don't have answers on how to comply, with less than four months until the reporting requirements begin. "We all must work together to effectively address global deforestation. However, failure to immediately address stakeholder questions and concerns could have significant negative economic effects on both producers and customers on both sides of the Atlantic."
The news release also noted that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has asked for a delay in the requirements.
