The document should, among other things, assess provisions Congress included in the FY 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to facilitate such collaboration (see 2312070054), the committee said.

The update also should also assess the effects and feasibility of adding more countries to Pillar II, the committee said. A State Department official said in April that the AUKUS partners plan to conduct consultations “this year” with potential Pillar II participants, starting with Japan (see 2404240068).

The Armed Services Committee requested the Pillar II progress report in a newly released report accompanying its version of the FY 2025 NDAA.
