Lawmaker Calls US Chip Exports to Huawei ‘Unacceptable’

Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y, criticized the Biden administration last week for reportedly allowing Intel to export “cutting-edge chip technology” to China’s Huawei for use in the new Matebook X Pro computer, even though Huawei has been on the Commerce Department’s Entity List since 2019 (see 1905160072).

“It is unacceptable that the Biden administration is actively working to undermine U.S. national security by allowing our greatest strategic adversary access to cutting edge American technology,” the House Republican Conference chair tweeted.

Commerce and Intel declined to comment. Huawei gave no immediate response to a request for comment.
