Senate Committee Approves Iranian Drone Sanctions Bill
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee last week approved a bill that would authorize U.S. sanctions under the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act against anyone who helps Iran acquire unmanned drones or their parts. The bill was overwhelmingly passed by the House in April (see 2204280007).

Committee Chairman Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., said the legislation will ensure the U.S. “holds Iran accountable” for its efforts to acquire drones for terrorist attacks. He said he hopes for “swift passage” in the Senate and the “ultimate enactment of this bipartisan legislation into law.” Ranking member Sen. James Risch, R-Idaho, said the Senate should “move quickly to pass this important legislation.”
