House Republicans Introduce Bill to Prevent Made-in-the-West-Bank COOL
Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., introduced a bill that would prohibit the Biden administration from changing country-of-origin labeling on goods made in the West Bank or Gaza Strip. The Biden administration has made no public moves to do so, but under the Obama-Biden administration, according to Israeli press reports, enforcement was stepped up on a longtime rule that goods made in the West Bank had to be labeled as such.

Tenney's bill, introduced in the House Sept. 23, with four Republican co-sponsors, is a companion to a bill introduced in the Senate (see 2107290060). Tenney said that if goods were labeled as coming from the occupied territories, that would enable a boycott and divestiture movement she called anti-Semitic.
"Once again, the Biden Administration is trying to change GREAT pro-Israel policies enacted by the Trump Administration. Reversing these current guidelines would only further advance the BDS movement. Israel needs to know that America will not support anti-Semitic policies," said Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, a former White House physician.
