No Slowdown in Coronavirus-Induced Cancellations, Adjustments
Telecom and tech continued responding Monday to COVID-19 with actions that included moving to telework and canceling or postponing events, or moving them virtual.

• Best Buy cited concerns for customers and employees during the COVID-19 crisis when it blogged Sunday it had suspended scheduled installations, haul-aways and repairs for large items. The company instructed customers with scheduled installations in the next 30 days to expect an email or text about delivery options. The company is offering “contactless curbside service,” for customers with coronavirus concerns. “We remain determined to continue to serve you and are announcing today a new way of making our stores accessible while even further enhancing customer and employee safety,” blogged the retailer. The service is available at all locations in the U.S., where state or local laws allow, for orders placed online or via the Best Buy app. The company continues home deliveries to customers' doorsteps.
• The Fiber Broadband Association rescheduled its Fiber Connect event to Dec. 14-16 in Nashville. It had been set for June 1-3 at the Gaylord Opryland.
• Dish Network plans to host its annual meeting May 1 at its Englewood, Colorado, headquarters, but may hold it virtually instead, “depending on concerns” about COVID-19, said a proxy filing Friday. Dish would “publicly announce a determination” before May 1 to hold the meeting virtually and instructions for accessing it online “as soon as practicable,” it said.
• ASTM International canceled all in-person standardization meetings through May, it said Monday. It previously scrubbed all physical conferences through April. It based the decisions on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, plus input from members and “the expanding trajectory of the coronavirus,” it said. It will use “these and other relevant criteria” in deciding the fate of meetings scheduled through June, it said.
