CBP Dealing With Internal ACE Issues
CBP is "experiencing an outage for new ACE applications to include Cargo Release, Entry summary" and e214 foreign-trade zones admissions, it said in a Dec. 22 CSMS message. Those problems are internal to CBP and the electronic data interchange "is working and the trade can send and receive transactions," CBP said in a subsequent CSMS message.

The agency is "actively addressing the situation and will inform the trade as soon as the issue is resolved," CBP said in a later CSMS message. "CBP port offices were instructed to move to downtime procedures as appropriate when the issue was identified. Manual release processes may be needed and local ports should be contacted to release held freight after completion of examinations."
CBP is "still able to input transfers," said Ruth Wild, a CBP agriculture specialist with the Port of New York/Newark. "The Port of New York/Newark Document Analysis Unit (DAU) and Centralized Air Cargo Examination Facility (CACEF) will accept hard copy entries for perishable and time sensitive cargo for down time release until such time as the system is restored. Prior to submitting a paper entry to the DAU or CACEF filers are to submit electronic entries via their ABI interface to ACE," she said by email. "This will facilitate the entry process once ACE comes back online. Additionally for agriculture exams, please supply a copy of the entry to facilitate the exam."
