Ka-band satellite program and Vp-Technology Macy Summers has responsibility for technical design and service definitions. Summers is former vp of EMS Technologies, where he worked on Netsat 28 project. Vp-Business Development Chuck Chukravarty will oversee negotiations and structuring strategic alliances and business planning for new ventures. Pegasus also plans to expand corporate hq in Bala Cynwyd, Pa., so it can consolidate Internet service with Ka-band design work. New hq is scheduled to be completed in fall. It will include state-of-art lab for development and testing of satellite network ground systems. Lab also will serve as backup network operations center. Meanwhile, satellite analyst Patrick Fuhrmann of C.E. Unterberg Towbin called new slots obtained by Pegasus are “very valuable” because non- CONUS slots are capable of providing service to Africa, Asia and Europe. “Moreover, licenses, mark the first time Pegasus has owned its own orbital slots, which should add to the intrinsic value of PGTV shares.” Fuhrmann said Pegasus would be able to capture 100% of service revenue and increase its broadband service margins by owning its own satellites. “It alleviates the risk of depending on a 3rd party for service,” Fuhrmann said.
