CBP and FDA will implement a “streamlined information process” between the agencies beginning on Oct. 1, said Dan Solis, FDA assistant commissioner-import operations, in a letter dated Sept. 19. The new process will be “largely seamless for the trade” but will “allow for the timely issuance of the demand for redelivery of goods refused by FDA," Solis said.

The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau is setting new procedures for claiming Craft Beverage Modernization Act tax reductions beginning in 2023. The agency’s temporary rule implements the transfer of authority to administer CBMA provisions from CBP to TTB, and creates a new system wherein importers will claim refunds retroactively each quarter, rather than at time of entry. Producer registration, assignment of credits and importer claims will all be filed in the agency’s myTTB online system and tied to data filed in ACE at entry.

CBP added a new set of frequently asked questions to its ACE FAQ webpage on upcoming capabilities for ocean house bill of lading release, it said in a Sept. 15 CSMS message. “CBP will periodically update this section with new content as we approach the deployment of the OHBOL Release ACE enhancement,” the agency said. The capability is scheduled for deployment in the ACE production environment Jan. 8.
