Clear Terms

Search Primer

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons.

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match (e.g. "universal service fund").

Acronyms: Use all capital letters to ensure the search is not looking for that letter sequence instead.(e.g. NTIA).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., "FCC chairman" +Pai).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., FCC -Carr).

Simplest form: Use the simplest form of a term (e.g. "satellite" instead of "satellites" or "impose" instead of "imposed").

APHIS Set to Require Mandatory 'Core' ACE Filing in August

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is set to require filing of its “core” partner government agency (PGA) data in ACE beginning Aug. 3, 2020, the agency said in a notice. “On that date, APHIS intends to begin applying Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) flags, which will alert filers who opt to submit data electronically whether APHIS import data is or may be required. Importers or brokers using ACE must enter APHIS-required import data when they receive an APHIS-specific HTS flag in order to complete their entry in the system,” APHIS said.

Outside the most complicated issues to be implemented as part of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, such as rules of origin, CBP also sees new “opportunities that are touched on in the agreement,” said Brenda Smith, executive assistant commissioner of CBP’s Office of Trade, during a Jan. 29 interview. “For example, there's some guidance around establishing single windows, there are opportunities for us to validate through site visits compliance with all customs laws and that's a much broader scope than it was before,” she said. President Donald Trump signed the implementing bill into law the same day, though Canada still must give its final approval, and implementing actions must be completed by all countries before USMCA can take effect.
