CPSC Proposes to Allow More Participation from Employees in Voluntary Standard Groups
The Consumer Product Safety Commission is proposing a change to its rules that would allow CPSC employees to serve as voting members and take leadership positions in voluntary standard development groups. CPSC employees are currently barred from participation in the setting of voluntary standards except on a non-voting basis. The rule would stipulate that the CPSC Office of the Executive Director approve any requests to participate in voluntary standard bodies by its employees. Comments are due by Oct. 21.
